Weekly Message from Anima Christi
Biblical Reflection
“If one of you is planning to build a tower, he works out first what it will cost to see if he has enough money
to finish the job. If he doesn’t, he will get no further than laying the foundation, and all who see what happened
will laugh at him.” ~ Luke 14: 28-29
Warmest blessings from Anima Christi.
Being aware of the cost of discipleship before giving your life to Christ requires a little foresight; like
in a marriage, anything less than total commitment will destroy the entire union. You cannot accept part of the
Good News ~ you must accept all of it.
It is not enough to appear to be Catholic; we know that. Nor is it enough to keep it a secret: our prayers are
secret, the good we do for others may be secret, but you do not light a lamp and hide it entirely under a bushel!
As we are now able to restart the weekly bulletin, this message is particularly important. Anima Christi needs
wholehearted commitment from all of us, and sometimes it can feel like more than we are able to give. However,
as with all things, perseverance and faith will see us through the difficult times, and in the good times we can
share celebrations with the Lord and with each other.
What’s On This Week
First of all, we are delighted to announce that the weekly bulletin is up and running again. We have been unable
to provide this newsletter for quite some months due to serious technical difficulties. However, now that Michaela
and Gareth have a new computer, this is a thing of the past (we hope!). If you wish us to use a different email
address for you, or if you are getting this mailing twice, or even if you want to unsubscribe, please let us know
and we’ll get it put right. Thank you for your patience – we know a lot of you have missed the bulletin. If you
have anything you would like including in the bulletin, such as events you want to organise, or even prayer requests,
please could you send it to us by Saturday night wherever in the world you are, and we’ll make sure it gets put
in.
Prayer Group
The prayer group is currently operating on a once a week basis in the Grotto section of the Anima Christi chat
room. Mario is kindly leading the sessions every Saturday at 9pm UK time, 4pm EST. We are keen to make prayer a
daily joining together of our community, but we really need volunteers to make this a practical reality. If anyone
is interested in leading a prayer session, please could they get in touch with us at animachristi@catholic.org
Bible Study Group
The Bible Study group continues to meet every Sunday to discuss the Gospel of the day. Meetings are at 9pm
UK time, 4pm Eastern. All are welcome, and a Bible or Missal is helpful, although not essential, as the readings
are posted in the chat room at the time.
Chat Room Monitors
Many thanks to all of our monitors for the excellent job they are doing and all the hard work they are putting
into making our community such a special one. We are in the process of appointing new monitors to the team so that
we can share the task more equally. If you feel you could give some time, please do let us know. If current monitors
could please contact Michaela to confirm their email addresses, then a monitor mailing list will be set up, and
we can get full guidelines and contact details to you! Many thanks
May God bless and keep you all.
